Oct 25th 2014

Thursday, October 23rdSMEG launched their U.S. line of Small Domestic Appliances in New York, at Gallery 151 on West 18th Street in NYC’s trendy Chelsea neighborhood.

From 4 to 6 p.m., SMEG met the press, and with guests enjoying a cocktail party afterwards, from 6 to 9 p.m.  During the event, Luca Manfè, the Italian winner of the 2013 edition of the U.S. MasterChef program, hosted a cooking demonstration showing the small appliances in action.  With the participation of I love Italian Food, a non-profit organization whose is to spread passion for Italian cuisine and food worldwide, Luca has upholded the proud tradition of Italian food excellence.

SMEG thanks Peroni and San Pellegrino  drinks and water and  Tenuta Sette Ponti, Feudo Maccari, Tasca D’almerita, Tenuta Tascante and La Scolca wine companies, which provided the guests with high quality wines that everyone thoroughly enjoyed. SMEG was overjoyed to be able to present wine representatives of luxury Made in Italy style.

The Italian design excellence has been honored by artist Jacob Henderson, who performed live in the Gallery during the reception, window painting a SMEG FAB28 fridge, using the fridge itself as a canvas.  This unique retro style refrigerator has been donated during the reception to Global Brigades, the world’s largest student-led global health and sustainable development organization, founded in 2004. SMEG believes strongly in Global Brigades’ mission to improve the lives of people throughout the world at the grassroots level, and looks forward to working with them again in the future.
