29/01/2013

After its success in 2010, Smeg has once again obtained International recognition by winning GOOD DESIGN 2012 with a stunning Linea white glass cooktop.

Amongst the hand-picked elite of design products was Smeg’s elegant Linea white glass cooktop. The expert panel of judges converged in New York to represent Chicago Athenaeum, the Museum of Architecture and Design, and the European Centre of Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies, and award superior design pieces as winners of Good Design 2012.

Now in its 72nd year, the Good Design Awards are held to honor the most original and innovative products on the basis of aesthetic, function and respect for the environment. In 2010, Smeg received a top accolade for its progressive cooktop and oven from the Smeg Marc Newson range. This year Smeg has repeated the success winning the Award once again with the new eye-catching Linea cooktop.

The Smeg cooktop was successfully judged amongst hundreds of submissions sent from around the world. Originally presented as a concept coded PVB750-2E, the product has now been launched in the European market as PV175CB.  Developed by Smeg with the intention to create a unique and innovative gas cooktop, the design comprises a single piece of flat glass measuring 4mm thick - perfect to integrate into a contemporary and minimalist environment.

The ceramic glass cooktop resists heats of up to 1,472°F, and was researched and developed to guarantee optimal performance – it is extremely robust, durable and user friendly. The actual glass is white in colour, not printed, making it undoubtedly a stunning piece with a unique purity and uniformity that is complemented by the matching knobs, pan stands and burner caps. The pan stands are made from a single piece of cast iron and finished in white enamel, offering the advantage of no joins and therefore a more robust piece easier to clean.

Finally, the stunning ultra low profile burners are made from white enamel to guarantee maximum aesthetic consistency teamed with an efficacious performance in durability and resistance.

Smeg PV175CB - a totally white design product that achieves excellence in both style and performance.
