CASTLE CASTEMOLA OPENS THE EXHIBITION "SWEET CHARMS OF SICILY," A JOURNEY THROUGH THE ART, FOOD, AND MUSIC OF THE ISLAND.

May 22nd 2017

On the occasion of the G7 Summit being held this month in Taormina, the nearby commune of Castelmola is acting as the mouthpiece of art and culture in Sicily.

At the Castillo de Castelmola's museum, from May 13th to the 28th, the special event, "The Sweet Charms of Sicily," featuring an exhibition of works by the artist  Michelangelo Lacagnina  and the photos of Salvatore Farina is being held.  Their works evoke the unique flavors of Sicilian desserts, and a fascination and focus on the bright and warm colors that represent moments of everyday life on the island.  It is in this context that one of the now-iconic SMEG Frigorifero D'arte refrigerators, one of the 100 unique pieces born out of the collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, hand-painted by Sicilian artists, enters the scene, and has been included amongst the works on-display.

Castelmola, known as being among the most beautiful villages in all of Italy, is just above Taormina, and is one of the localities organizing events for guests of the G7 delegations, journalists, and professionals that will be present in various capacities, and invited by the commune's administration.
